Family Resource Center

Family Resource Center

FRC stands for Family Resource Center.  FRC is a grant program that has existed for 30 years and our purpose is to help students and families with resources in our area to make their lives better.  My name is Karen Nunley and I have been the FRC Coordinator for 10 years.  My office is located in the High School where I also have a clothing closet beginning.   Please don't hesitate to reach out for assistance as needed.  I can't help if I don't know.

FRC is partnering with the AWARE program and also with CIS Communities in School, Health Services, and Health Council on projects for our students.
If you have an idea I would love to hear it and maybe we can get it in place in our schools.  Please email or call me and let me in on any suggestions or ideas you may have for the betterment of our students.  We want their time at school to be a great experience and the stepping stone for a great future!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:  FRC partnered with Operation Warm and received many new coats for elementary school kids.If your elementary age child needs a coat please contact their school and they can tell you when to pick a coat up or send home with your child.  Our high school students brought hygiene items and socks to help all our students in the school system.  Bledsoe County High School Students have been doing a monthly program to help our Care Closet which is for all children in all schools.  It has been a great success and our students are learning to give back at the same time as helping others less fortunate.  This month FRC is beginning a Student Food Pantry and kids who are in need can come pick out what they would like to take home to eat each night or just for the weekends.  We are excited to get this going for our students.  Christmas for 2022 was provided by employees of BTC Fiber and the employees of BCCX Correctional Facility this year.  We appreciate everyone who took time and money to help the students out this past Christmas.

October will be drug prevention month and November will be anti bullying month.  FRC hopes to help with these topics to get the word out for the students in all schools.  FRC will be conducting presentations at Mary V Wheeler Elementary against bullying Oct. 6 and 7.  We will be talking to students about hygiene and body image this year and also emotional chains along with Avalon Center.
